SiX Repro State Learning Lab: Defeating Anti-abortion Indoctrination Bills
On March 23, 2026, SiX's Repro State Learning Lab featured guest speakers Miranda Estes, MSW from SIECUS and Jason Stevenson and Montsie Garrido from Planned Parenthood Association of Utah. The advocates led a timely discussion of strategies to oppose the harmful legislative trend of anti-comprehensive sex education bills, including “Baby Olivia/Oliver” and “Success Sequencing” bills. Rather than providing comprehensive, age-appropriate, and evidence-based instruction, these hostile sex education bills politicize the classroom, undermine medical accuracy, and replace real education with ideological content. Our national partners at SIECUS shared details around The Heritage Foundation's goals. And the Public Policy Team at Planned Parenthood Association of Utah shared their “behind-the-scenes” strategy, which successfully defeated a bill on human development instruction this legislative session.

SiX Repro State Learning Lab: Lawyer Office Hours with Pregnancy Justice and Senator Tiara Mack
On March 9, 2026, SiX's Repro State Learning Lab hosted Lawyer Office Hours with Kulsoom Ijaz, Senior Policy Counsel at Pregnancy Justice. This roundtable conversation gave legislators and legislative staff the opportunity to receive technical assistance about legislation they were introducing, supporting, or opposing to protect against unintentionally criminalizing pregnancy outcomes or expanding surveillance. Senator Tiara Mack provided real-world examples and best practices from Rhode Island.

On March 9, 2026, SiX's Repro State Learning Lab featured Megan Donovan from Patient Forward. She introduced the Unpunish Pregnancy policy evaluation tool designed to help advocates and policymakers assess how proposed or existing policies may unintentionally criminalize pregnancy outcomes or expand surveillance, enforcement, or punishment. The tool supports real-time policy analysis and strategy, particularly in active legislative environments and cross-movement spaces where the downstream impacts of language and implementation matter deeply.
