Statement on SCOTUS Agreeing to Hear Challenge to Abortion Pill Access
Today the U.S. Supreme Court announced that it will hear an appeal in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, the ongoing federal lawsuit over the FDA’s approval of mifepristone, a medicine commonly used in medication abortion.
Jennifer Driver, Senior Director of Reproductive Rights at the State Innovation Exchange, said:
“Access to medication abortion is on the line. The baseless attacks of mifepristone will absolutely rob people of their ability to make their own decisions about their own lives. Determining when or if to become a parent is one of the most important decisions someone can make, and the freedom to make that decision should rest with people, not with judges or courts. We stand with our network of reproductive freedom champions in state legislatures as they fight back against mounting attacks on abortion access, and we condemn political interference in matters of pregnancy and parenting.”
