Youth Access
Overview
The World Health Organization has recognized access to sexual and reproductive healthcare as important “for the human rights, health and well-being of adolescents.” However, in the United States young people under the age of 18 often face a patchwork of legal and logistical challenges to access care. These model policies seek to honor the dignity of youth and ensure they have access to the healthcare and information they need.
_____
This policy agenda includes model legislation and resources to improve access to reproductive healthcare. We urge legislators to use the models as a starting point and to work closely with state advocates and community members to craft solutions specific to your state’s needs. Each policy includes strategic recommendations and sample language tailored for different audiences.
